HomeOur ServicesConstruction Traffic Management Plans

Managing traffic to, from and within a construction site is complex and potentially fraught with dangers. Which is why construction companies, contractors and planners come to us so that we can help them with the intricacies of construction traffic management planning, to ease their burden and to take the pressure off.

We can help design a Construction Traffic Management Plan (CTMP) – also known as a Construction Management Plan (CMP) or Construction Logistics Plan (CLP) – for any size of development.

From single house developments to new housing neighbourhoods and larger commercial construction sites, no plan is too big or small for our construction traffic management experts who have vast experience in highways and traffic engineering.

They will ensure that construction vehicles can safely access the site, the general public is kept safe, and there is minimal disruption to the highway network.

What a Construction Traffic Management Plan will cover

Our CTMP will cover all aspects of how the construction traffic associated with your development will be managed. It will identify hazards and apply appropriate controls so that that the movement of vehicles to and from the construction site is managed and coordinated with the least amount of impact to the general public.

It will also cover temporary traffic management on live roads – complying with all the requirements of Chapter 8 and Temporary Traffic Management Guidance – to ensure the continued smooth operation of the highway network, as well as the wider impact of vehicles traveling to the construction site.

This will include but not limited to:

  • Access to and from the site during the construction phase, including vehicle routing and swept path analysis
  • Keeping pedestrians and construction vehicles apart
  • Minimising vehicle movements, including restrictions and timings
  • Temporary parking restrictions, and parking arrangements for construction workers and the wider community
  • Signage and instructions
  • Any permits requirements

Local authority knowledge

Many local authorities now require a detailed Construction Traffic Management Plan as part of developments. We have worked with many of the local authorities across the UK so have experience of what they want and how they work, so we can provide a report to your local authority’s specific requirements.

And for a complete package, where the construction site requires a simple rework or a complete overhaul of the road network outside the construction area, we can provide that too.
